Stuyvesant Heights Christian Church was organized in 1928. Since that date this church has existed and prospered under the leadership of ten (10) Ministers. They are as follows:

In 1954, the late Rev. Richard L. Saunders came to Stuyvesant Heights Christian Church as Minister and Pastor. At that time, he found twelve (12) Deacons, and three (3) Elders, but there was no Elder, Deacon or Deaconess Boards. Immediately, he organized the Elders, Deacons and Deaconess Boards of this Church. Since the beginning of these Boards, the Elders have had eight (9) Chairpersons, the Deacons have had seventeen (19) Chairpersons, and the Deaconess Board has had three (3) Chairpersons.

In 1991, the Deaconess Board was dissolved and merged with the Deacon Board of this church. Today there is only one Board and this is the Deacon Board. Under the leadership of these nine (9) ministers and three (3) Boards, this church grew and prospered, but our task was not always easy. We have had our ups and downs, our setbacks and our sorrows. Since our existence, God has seen fit to call home nine (9) Ministers, fourteen (14) Elders, thirty-eight (38) Deacons and eighteen (18) Deaconesses.

However, we feel that God did not intend for us to stop working, but to continue to hold high this Christian Banner. Today, this church is proud to proclaim we have a membership of eight (6) Elders, one (1) Elder Emeritus, twelve (13) Deacons, (1) Deacon-n-Training, six (6) Deacons Emeritus. From this church have come nine (9) ordained Ministers. They are as follows:

The late Rev. Robert Gabriel - Pastored the Aimwell Baptist Church, Pamplico, South Carolina
Rev. Robert Long – who graduated from the Bethel Bible School, was ordained as Minister at this church and served as the Pastor of Faith Baptist Church in Coram, Long Island, N.Y.
